Marla B. Isaacs has been in private practice in Philadelphia for over 30 years. She is a clinical psychologist and clinical professor at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Medicine.
She is a psychotherapist, and has worked with adults, couples and families. She founded and directed the Families of Divorce Project at the Philadelphia Child Guidance Clinic, where she was funded by Pew and the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). In that capacity, Dr. Isaacs pioneered a short-term treatment program for normal families going through divorce. She was funded to train other professionals nationwide in utilizing this program, and to conduct research on the effects of divorce on children and families.
Dr. Isaacs has co-authored Therapy of the Difficult Divorce: Managing Crises, Reorienting Warring Couples, Working with the Children, and Expediting Court Processes. She has presented her work at national symposiums, and has published articles on divorce and child custody.
